So, you have passed your driving test - well done! But this is just the start of your driving career. You still have a lot to learn: in fact, you will never stop learning. Whilst you will have driven in many types of situation during driving lessons leading up to your test, the chances are there are situations that you are not confident about, such as night driving or driving on narrow, winding country lanes. In particular you will have received no instruction on motorway driving. Pass Plus is a course designed to help you achieve confidence in these areas.

WHAT IT CONSISTS OF

Pass Plus is made up of six practical modules:

  • driving in town

  • driving in all weathers

  • driving on rural roads

  • driving at night

  • driving on dual carriageways

  • driving on motorways

There is no test to pass at the end of the course but you will be continually assessed and must achieve the necessary standard.

WHAT IT COSTS

My current charge for a Pass Plus course is £200. However, the really good news is that, if you live in the Hampshire County Council Local Authority area, subject to conditions, the Council are currently operating a scheme whereby they will pay £75.00 towards this cost.

I am registered with the Council to participate in this scheme.

(Unfortunately you are not presently eligible for the scheme if you live in the Unitary Authority areas of Southampton or Portsmouth.)

IN MY VIEW THE PASS PLUS COURSE SHOULD BE MADE COMPULSORY FOR ALL NEW DRIVERS.
